Hynasul Rymethazh
The city for conlangs
Hynasul Rymethazh "Language of the Rymeth" is a langauge spoken extensively across the continent of Rymethus in Eraminya. In myriad dialects it serves as the 'common' language of the Rymeth Empire, and due to the influence of the Empire it is also an important lingua franca across the whole continent.
[edit] History
The inception and origin of Hynasul Rymethazh has been lost in the mists of time, though it is widely believed that it has survived without great change from the very first languages spoken by the Rymeth after the Remaking. It was said that before the Remaking there was no need for spoken or written language, for a telepathic link existed between all sentients and sound could not travel through water; after the Remaking and the so-called Long Dream, when the souls of some last survivors of this race were placed into new bodies and set upon the new land, this telepathic link was severed, and language became necessary.
As the peoples had never had occasion to hear much in the waters, their first words for many things observed depended on what property of theirs could be put into sound; for example, thus, the Rymeth words for a person's gait included pyde "walk", pirde "fast walk with long strides", and tadabe "run". This distinctly onomatopoeic quality of Hynasul Rymethazh has survived to this day, though many inflections reflecting grammatical functions do not fall into this category; "sea" remains wargash, "river" yala'z, "fire" kyrac or vuruham.
The urheimat of Hynasul Rymeth is probably in the region of the Bay of Rynamar, where most of the survivors reached land; from there they overwhelmed other bodies of people and their language formed the basis for communication across the southern regions.
