Phonotactics:Edit

Imolian follows the patern CCCVCC

  1. All syllables have nucleus.
  2. No geminates.
  3. No onset /ŋ/ and /ʁ/.
  4. No /ɸ/; /β/; /ʎ/; /ɲ/ and /h/ in the syllable coda.
  5. No affricatives in complex onsets.
  6. The first consonant in a complex onset must be an obstruent.
  7. The second consonant in a complex onset must not be a voiced obstruent.
  8. If the first consonant in a complex onset is not a /s/, the second must be a liquide or a glide.
  9. Every subsequence contained within a sequence of consonants must obey all the relevant phonotactic rules
  10. If there is a complex coda, the second consonant must not be /ŋ/ or /ʒ/.
  11. If the second consonant in a complex coda is voiced, so is the first
  12. Non-alveolar nasals must be homorganic with the next segment
  13. Two obstruents in the same coda must share voicing
  14. When a raising diphthong is after an obstruend or a nasal, the first cell (/j/ or /w/) can interfer on the obstruent pronounciation, turning them into a palatalized or a labialized consonant.
