General Information [ ]
Krovakese is the name given to one of many languages spoken in the northernmost areas of the Varan subcontinent. It is the official language spoken in the Krovak assembly and mutually intellegible with other regional languages to differing degrees. It originated as a dialect of Proto-Krovakese before developing into a language proper. It is not a member of the Varan language family despite being spoken within the broad geo-political region often simply referred to as Vara. It is a member of the Kro language family, but due to the influence of Haran invasions over several centuries its vocabulary includes a signifcant number of Haran derived words. Most notably, the word used to refer to the united Krovak state, Krovakkar, is a compound formed from the native word krovak meaning 'of the Kro' and the Haran loanword haara meaning 'lands/empire'.
