Common Etexan, usually referred to as Old Etexan, was the ancestor of all Etexic languages. While having the sound inventory and grammar closer to that of Old North Etexan, the roots were closer to that of Old South Etexan.

Old Etexan was a rather synthetic language with 7 verb constructions (not including the past tense, etc), analytic noun phrase, and few irregularities.
