Many future developments or sensible future decisions seem to be hampered by early offers to produce exactly the wrong precedents.^[1] This would be simply the sensible idea to foresee the future and make easy transitions turned around into its complement.

This can also be interpreted as the statement "You want to prevent the future." ^[2]

^[1] It might also be a counter effect to other cases where, without apparent planning, inventions or events fit together like a puzzle.

^[2] not the future, although fast technological progress or fast social change is sometimes related to the metaphorical future by requiring more advanced ethics or collective intelligence that may not yet have been established.
