[edit] Overstatement
Desirable flying / floating positions are frequently described by one of the extreme positions or arbitrary exaggerations. This can be interpreted as the challenge to find the adequate position (or the truth, in case of observable facts) yourself.

[edit] Overstatement of ethical demands
Overstatement of ethical demands can probably be found in all religions. Christians are expected to love their enemies [1] and to turn the other cheek. [2] Buddhists/Jains are expected to feel compassion even for insects (see Ahimsa). What this probably means is that when you are talking to somebody who is willing to rationalize almost anything you have to find your floating position yourself; the most sensible position may not be offered to you (and may depend on your individual position). This can easily lead to nonsensical or severely overstated ethical demands if you discuss ethics. A problem with overstated ethics can be that it may segregate people who would have been able to agree on a common code of ethics.
This could also be interpreted as the statement "there is an area where your ethics are lacking and it's not the one suggested" (Mutation).
- See also: #Challenge of your position
- [1] Obviously the first choice would be not to have any enemies and if you cannot help it love would hardly be the adequate reaction, so this is most probably a less plausible mutation or overstatement of considering the rights of people who wouldn't do or haven't done you the same favor and to possibly take a benevolent position in spite of injustice or enmity introduced by others.
- [2] There may be situations where it makes sense but there are also situations where it is nonsensical.
[edit] Exaggerated effects
A possible (anti-)pattern is the need to take into account exaggerated effects.
For a teacher it can be useful behavior to exaggerate effects so that inexperienced pupils notice the effects anyway, e.g. when the teacher mirrors behavior of a pupil to reveal the inadequacy of certain behavioral patterns.
Exaggerated effects may be much less useful for adults who are prepared to anticipate real-world results and do not expect to deal with exaggerations.
For both, pupils and adults, it applies that the logical conclusion when you may have to deal with exaggerations is that you might want to cushion the effects and to de-escalate where necessary. As the effects of the YHVH language are non-obvious if follows that you would have to do this in general, which is also directly related to taking a flying position: to maintain a flying position in an unsteady state one needs to cushion (or counter) any adverse effects.
