blue is a metaphor for (social) cold or cold rationality.
- One problem here is to not distinguish the two, as unemotional rationality can be a very useful mindset, e.g. for a scientist, judge or mediator.

the (blue) sea (Meer {de} -> mehr {de} -> more)
- This is a third connotation that is not strictly related to the first two. greed and social cold can coincide but don't necessarily have to and
- cold rationality and egoism can coincide but don't have to, one might argue that a rational person might apply Kant's Categorical Imperative out of purely rational conviction.
Observations:
- As usual, these metaphors are counterintuitive. You have to think about them, not follow your intuitions.
Shadowing: The ocean, which is usually perceived as something positive is overloaded with the negative concept of an exceedingly greedy society.
Also:
- Sea being homophone to see a further use can be a metaphor for seeing, as in "You want to (go to the) see".
- ocean Oh, Schön {de} -> beautiful (-> beautiful)
- wanting more is attractive.
- Abyss refers to a bottomless pit (hell) or the deep ocean.
rot {de} : red opposite of blue.
orange : complementary color of blue
- e.g.: to eat an orange.
