life -> live -> leave -> get lost

life : as opposed to death [1]

Interpretation "animals [2] in human captivity":

  • Humans dominate and decide what the animals have to do. (see rein)
  • Humans communicate in a language that is unintelligible.
  • Shepherd dogs (clever animals) keep sheep (homophone to "cheap", dumb animals) on a pasture.
  • Many animals get slaughtered long before the end of their natural life.
  • Some animals (especially in zoos) live longer than in freedom.
  • Animals in human captivity live between stress and boredom.
  • Animals in human captivity are either pets, zoo animals or productive livestock.
  • Animals get funny names.
  • Animals in human captivity often have a purpose assigned before birth. (see Predestination)
  • Animals are often not given the opportunity to learn natural behaviour from their parents or a social peer group under natural conditions. (a possible precedent for the deterioration of community)
  • Another species takes more interest into your body parts than you would care for (face, hair, eyes, ears, arms, legs, blood), see also: Category:Animal_Products

[1] Which is, of course, a false dilemma
[2] This is probably not related to animals, it's an independent aspect (e.g. other species)

[edit] References

  • Where there is life there is always hope.
