The city for conlangs

salutation :

  • Leaving or parting words carry the connotation of not making sense (anymore).
  • Arriving or arrival greetings carry the connotation of making sense (again).

begrüßenswert {de} -> salutation

lit. translaton: worthy to be embraced

verabschiedungswürdig {de} [1] -> farewell

lit. translation: worthy to bid farewell to

[1] The word does not exist but would be a generic opposite of begrüßenswert and vaguely homophone to verabscheuungswürdig.

verabschieden :

  • to say farewell to sb.
  • to adopt (a law or a regulation)

This could be interpreted to mean that you might want to take care of [1] children of others you might otherwise (have to) bid farewell. (see: Upbringing and education)

[1] overstatement [2]: to adopt
[2] most children aren't available for adoption, this isn't meant to discredit adoption when it is possible.

How do you do? (see water)

[edit] Hypothesis

There is a possibility that this works in unexpected ways sometimes:

  • An imminent greeting may cause sensible decisions.
  • An imminent parting may cause undesirable decisions.

The same can be true for words of confirmation and disagreement.

If you take this seriously it can lead to the conviction that certain words should not be spoken (e.g. Voldemort). In my opionion this might be a case of the Make you act foolish pattern. It might also be an act of teaching the YHVH language, as in the YHVH language this association is meaningful a teacher might use a foreseeable event to explain the association.

The association does make sense in the YHVH language because position refers to your ethical position (e.g. position / altitude on the mountain).
