woman suffrage : the right to vote for women [1]
The right to vote is sometimes associated with adult responsibilities. The right to vote is, however, not by itself something that seems very likely to cause a person receiving it to take a more adult outlook. It can motivate people to take a stronger interest in politics but people who do are probably people who do have that predisposition anyway. The right to vote could be used to promote a more adult outlook if it was given only to people who had met certain conditions, e.g. completed a voluntary social year.
The rationale could be: If you do not respect collective intelligence why should you want to vote? If you do respect collective intelligence why should you refuse to participate in a voluntary social year?
- [1] False dilemma : There is no apparent clear distinction between what the YHVH language claims to be male or female people. Consequently the idea to deny "women" the right to vote could be interpreted as to require certain skills or voluntary work as a precondition for the right to vote and, possibly, to promote certain attitudes. [2]
- [2] "to deny a group of people sth." is apparently used as a recurring less plausible mutation of "educating members of a group to become members of a different group". (See avoid π) This isn't meant to imply that there may not be members of the first group that cannot be educated to become members of the second group. It seems, for example, unrealistic that everybody could become an academic without lowering the requirements.
