Rpizenq (rpîz'enqča, literally "our language", RPL: [r˝pi^z!enq͡č^a]) is a language created by Neonlights for an alien race Rpizir ("ours", singular Rpiz). The sound cannot be pronounced by human mouth, since Rpizir have their own phonetic apparatus. The phonetic transcription is using Ripizian Phonetic Letters (RPL).
The Rpizir phonetic apparatusEdit
Rpizir phonetic apparatus is called phonogone and is located above the mouth (which are used for eating). The olfactory organs (holes), also called "nostrils", are also used in phonogony (creation of voices).
Creation of voicesEdit
The voices are created by vibrating the vocal chords thus producing sound. The sound is processed in the Great Spindle, which lowers the frequency of the sound making it able to understand and hear. The processed sound is shaped with plates (superplatae and infraplatae), which form the phoneme by gliding over one another, such as insect apparati. Additional organs that form the phonemes are nostrils, lips (superlabia and infralabia), whistle (fistula) and the soft plate or the tongue (which models the phonemes by touching the macula or the palate). The salivary glands create saliva to lubricate the organs inside the apparatus.
The superplatae and the infraplatae have their own respective names. They are arranged in a cylinder inside the head. Infraplatae are vertical and superplatae are horizontal. Each plate is phonemic.
The plates are:
Superplatae (upper plates):
- 1sp - First upper plate or absolutive plate
- 2sp - Second upper plate or saltative plate
- 3sp - Third upper plate or cricative plate
- 4sp - Fourth upper plate or plenative plate
- 5sp - Fifth upper plate or clatter plate
- 6sp - Sixth upper plate or apple plate
- 7sp - Seventh upper plate or bell plate
Infraplatae (lower plates):
- 1ip - First lower plate
- 2ip - Second lower plate
- 3ip - Third lower plate
- 4ip - Fourth lower plate
- 5ip - Fifth lower plate
- 6ip - Sixth lower plate
- 7ip - Seventh lower plate
- 8ip - Eighth lower plate
- 9ip - Ninth lower plate
- 10ip - Tenth lower plate
- 11ip - Eleventh lower plate (not drawn) or soft plate or the tongue
Each plate combination is phonemic. For example, the sound 1sp-3ip is not equal to 1sp-5ip.
The Ripizian Phonetic Letters tableEdit
The RPL table consists of consonants (plates, the tongue, whistle and/or the nostrils are used in forming) and vowels (no obstruction, pure voice)
The letters inside the cells are arranged like so:
plain|fistulative -----|----------- nasal|nasal fist.
Fistulatives are consonants formed with plates and the whistle. Nasals are consonants formed with air obstruction in the nostrils.
