The city for conlangs

The National Consultative Committee on Disarmament (NCCD) is delighted to announce that its international peace and disarmament convention on 13 and 14 May will be preceded by a concert for peace in Wellington's Michael Fowler Centre in the evening of 12 May. Without the untiring support of the Wellington City Council, this concert initiative would never have got off the drawing board.

There will be a major national and regional media campaign over the next three weeks, capitalizing on the synergy between the convention and the concert. The combination of the two events also demonstrates our commitment to open up discussion of peace and disarmament to a broad and hopefully more youthful constituency of public opinion.

As the convention venue can accommodate only about 200 participants, we are advising those wanting to attend to register as soon as possible, to avoid disappointment. The Michael Fowler Centre accommodates about 2000, so that is less of a problem there. But be in and invite young friends and relations to share in this memorable celebration of peace, at which Mayor Akiba will make a brief appearance.

And don't forget that, for those who can stay on an extra day, the first part of Monday 15 May will be devoted to a laid-back but important discussion involving overseas and NZ participants about concrete ways in which peace groups can work together more effectively in future.
