  • Alveolar nasals which precede post-alveolar fricatives are realised as uvular nasals.
  • Intervocalic instances of the voiced alveolar plosive may in some dialects be realised as voiced dental fricatives.
  • Intervocalic instances of the voiceless alveolar plosive may in some dialects be realised as voiceless dental fricatives.
  • In some dialects, voiced post-alveolar fricatives may be realised as voiced alveolar lateral fricatives, or voiced alveolar lateral affricates when preceded by an alveolar or bilabial nasal.

Rules of phonotactics:

  1. All syllables have a nucleus
  2. No onset /ɴ/
  3. No glottal fricatives in syllable codas
  4. No affricates in complex onsets
  5. The first consonant of a complex onset must be an obstruent
  6. The second consonant of a complex onset must not be a voiced obstruent
  7. If the first consonant of a complex onset is not an alveolar fricative, the second must be a liquid or glide
  8. No glides in codas
