Vefjan is a Volgic language within the Indo-European language family. While it constitutes its own branch of the Indo-European family, there are hypothetical lexical and phonological ties to the Balto-Slavic branch, the Uralic language family, and the Turkic language family. In a real world setting, this language would reside in the Western portion of the Volga river basin extending towards the Eastern Baltic coast.

Nouns are declined according to number (singular, plural) and case (nominative, accusative, genitive, dative, ablative, instrumental, locative, prepositional).

While they are far more irregular, Vefjan pronouns decline in the same ways that nouns do.

Sentences are generally VSO.
