Introduction & History Edit

In some reigons, there is a new way to communicate in Yelti, not in speaking, but in whistles! By the way since I don't know how to whistle, this will be more of like, a tonal soft-scream.

This was made when Yeltic people started exploring for the first time in 600 BCE. (If you want to have some reference, Yeltic split from Proto-Kapaupo-Yeltic or PKY at 1200 BCE, and this is at the same universe as Kapaupa [Yelti's closest relative language], Vigia, and Xara) since Climate change worsen and Kapaupan settlers begin to slowly settle on their place, so they have to migrate north. Migrating wasn't always easy. New villages built here are always isolated and when exploring, they need a much better form of communication other than speaking, this is when they come up with an idea, make a tone language.

Phonology Edit

This tone language has some plenty of tones, pairs of them encoding 1 letter each. Tones can glide from one tone to another if they are paired, if not, it will just play that tone and then a stop. Here is the possible tones and possible paring of them. I will use the IPA's system on how to represent consonant, vowels, and tones. If the "pairing" tones in the table is the same, that tone is single. The columns are the first ones to be played before the rows. A hashtag means that that pairing is invalid. The glottal stop is a literal stop when whistling.

So translating "Da Gebabo Vode" into this tone language in IPA will be like this: [àá.áā ȁ.a̋ā.ȁá.áā.ȁá.áà àā.a̋à.àá.a̋ā] or ˨˦.˦˧ ˩.˥˧.˩˦.˦˧.˩˦.˦˨ ˦˧.˥˨.˨˦.˥˧
