Zlb:Zulbreth (en)

The city for conlangs

Jump to: navigation, search

Versión en español.

Zulbreth was invented by Ingvar Tvatand in 90's. This conlang mainly tries to use monosyllabic roots from Germanic languges and make a fast-spoken language. He adapted Runic alphabet that also can write other European languages like Slavic, Romanic and Germanic languages.

“Zulbreth” means “blowing of the soul”.

Roots of this language are based mainly on most common consonantism of Germanic language and the vocalism has certain rules depending its nature.

The name of Zulbreth belongs to the first stage of the language when it nourished from Germanic roots, later the vowel system acquired semantical functions and currently the words that composed the name of the language became 'zel' and 'brüth', then the right name would be 'zelbrüth' but the tradition maintains the name immutable.

[edit] Roots and morphemes

The roots of this language are based on the common consonant of the Germanic languages and the vowels adopt certain rules according to its nature. The monosyllables have basic appearance CVC being able to incorporate intermediate liquid¹ consonants (L)C(L)V(L)C(L). When a vowel contributes a semantic value we spoke of phonetic morpheme or phonomorpheme.

Unlike the Germanic languages zulbreth does not distinguish between short and long vowels. The vocal system distinguishes eight vowels who undergo an opening in closed syllables (finished by consonant).
